Check your level.dat. Download your save file from Realms and check the level.dat of the game using an NBT Editor. SpawnX, SpawnY and SpawnZ are the coordinates of the world spawn point. The /kill method only works when gamerule spawnRadius is equal to 0. Otherwise, you will spawn randomly within that radius.
Also, I think the spawn thing is because of Essentials/EssentialsSpawn, just explore their config files and look for something regarding the spawn point, like if you want the players to spawn on their last location or in the spawn set by you Edit: I just read the documentation of Essentials and it says that the permission essentials.spawn-on
Set to = repeat and needs redstone with a lever flipped on. This was done so the command blocks can be switched off since you cannot change anything in them when they are set to always active w/o having to destroy the command block it's self. A bed sets the personal spawn point of the player who sleeps in it. It doesn't change world spawn, and it doesn't affect the personal spawn point of any other player unless they too sleep in it. Post a picture of your bed location, something might be blocking it.
However, even if I do /setworldspawn, all new players spawn in the middle of an ocean in the middle of the world, NOT the location where I did /setworldspawn. I even tried several plugins designed to assist with this, such as HomeSetSpawn, and others - at least three others - that were supposed to set the first player spawn. But they don't work.

Go into your server.properties and set the spawn protection to 0. Now download world edit or you cannot use the wand with //wand for world guard. So, I was trying to make checkpoints by changing the spawn point of a player by using Command Blocks and the /spawnpoint command. First, I tried by using arguments ( the @p[x=blah,y=blah,z=blah,r=blah] stuff) and a kind of clock (so the Command Block would be constantly active), but it didn't seem to work.
